185 Buddhas Walk into a Bar…

…And the bartender says, “Hey!  That’s the name of Amanda Rountree’s new one-woman show!”

Creating a show has a lot of steps to it.  I began writing this current show last year.  It came in fits and spurts and began mostly as unconnected memories and stories about my journey as a performer and an artist.  Then I found the Zen in the work, and the show really started taking shape.  I’m delighted to say that I got the talented Jen Ellison (who directed my first one-woman show, The Good, the Bad, and the Monkey) to direct this one as well!

185 Buddhas Walk into a Bar
The art of improvisation creates stories from thin air, making the unseen seen. For Amanda Rountree, this is not just an art form, but a way of life — one that includes unexpected twists and turns — leading, if not to mastery, to enlightenment.  Written and performed by Amanda Rountree, and directed by Jen Ellison, this show follows the artist on her path with all of the funny and touching moments along the way.

There are some pretty fantastic acts lined up to open for 185 Buddhas in the Feb/Mar run!  Look at this list!

Feb. 7:  Ever Mainard
Feb. 14:  Ian Foley
Feb. 21:  Ed Smaron
Feb. 28:  Dave Stinton
Mar. 7:   Janna Sobel
Mar. 14:  Kelsie Huff
Mar. 21:  Twitty Birds
Mar. 28:  Amy Sumpter

I hope you’ll come check it out!  I’d love to hear the sound of your two hands clapping…..  (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.)
