What People Are Saying:
Amanda's Advanced Scene Study Class is not just the best improv class I've taken, it's the best performance class I've taken in general. She is incredibly specific with her instruction, pushing and pulling at each performer where they need it. At the end of each class, I walked away feeling challenged. At the end of the session, I walked away a stronger improviser and actor.
It’s no exaggeration to say that Amanda’s teaching was instrumental in bringing my improv to the next level.
Amanda Rountree’s skill as an instructor is top notch. Her insight is amazing, and it is matched by her succinctness in giving constructive and critical feedback. She offers the learner clear directions on their path of development in the art of improvised theater and a deeper understanding of the nuances of performance.
Being in Amanda’s Advanced Scene Study Class is like going to the improv gym to get your reps in with a personal trainer: she’s super focused, teaches way beyond basic "yes and” skills, and coaches pragmatically for fine tuning of technique. She also tailors the classes to the ensemble’s needs-- I’ve taken the class twice now and will be taking another round next time it fits my schedule.
Amanda is a fearless teacher who seems to know exactly when you need support and exactly when you need a push. Becoming a better improviser can be uncomfortable and Amanda has helped me make friends with that feeling instead of being crushed by it.
No one, NO ONE has been more instrumental in my growth as a performer and as a person. Rountree helped me learn how to human again. Not only have I grown as an improviser and storyteller, but Amanda's classes (especially A.S.S.) have shaped me into being a better listener, and a more empathetic person.
